Katelyn is a junior at American Heritage and loves playing sports in and out of school. She is a multi-talented athlete and has participated in volleyball, cross country, track, basketball, ballroom, and ultimate frisbee. Additionally, she enjoys snowboarding, rock climbing, and canyoneering with her friends outside of school. She highly recommends volleyball. Katelyn states that, out of all the sports she’s played at the school, volleyball is her favorite.

“I love the team and the teamwork, the satisfaction, how straightforward it is, but there’s so much to it. It seems simple but you can break down the basics so much.”

This is Katelyn’s fifth year at the school and she does intend to graduate here. She also mentions with a wink that she highly suggests extreme ironing. “the latest danger sport that combines the thrills of an extreme outdoor activity with the satisfaction of a well pressed shirt.”

Katelyn not only participates in sports but is also taking part in the school’s fine arts. Mrs. Hilmo adds that, “Katelyn is an extremely gifted poet and writer. We are hoping she will audition for the spoken poetry ensemble here at AHS.”
