A Look Back at General Conference
October 28, 2021
On the weekend of Oct. 2-3, 2021, households around the globe were lifted sky high with the inspiring messages given by speakers at General Conference.
The General Conference tradition started on Jun. 9, 1830, only a couple of months after the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints was organized. At that first session, only 27 members were in attendance. Now, 191 years later, the Church has around 16,500,000 members around the globe, most of which tuned in for General Conference.
Students at AHS especially liked the message from President Nelson, “The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation.” Sophomore Ella Scriber appreciated his message and said it was “the talk that [she] remembers the most.” His talk highlighted the importance of having a foundation for the storms to come. Sophomore Elizabeth Ware, “saw that they [Conference] focused on our spiritual foundations.” She feels that his message “taught [her] to do better in [her] own life and make [building a foundation] a priority.”
General Conference is a mighty force for good and light in our world today. If any did not have the chance to hear the messages, they can find them at the Church’s website.
