Lighting the World This Christmas

Alyssa Bethers, Staff Writer

Every year, members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints await the Light the World calendar’s release. The calendar gives daily ideas as of what to do to serve others, The Church makes one for adults and one for children. The love of serving others is great during this holiday season, on our Church’s website people can commit to light the world. So far 62,173 people have said they are ready to light the world this year through serving one another. One interesting way people can light the world is through the giving machines. “Imagine swiping your credit card at a vending machine—but instead of buying a candy bar for yourself, you’re buying a sheep for a family in a third-world country. Or a polio vaccine. Or a pair of shoes. Or 100 meals for your local food bank. With the #LightTheWorld Giving Machines, that’s exactly what happens.” Prices being from $2-$500, every item bought is needed. There are so many different things members of the community can do to help those in need have not only a better Christmas but have a better life.
